Candle Care 101

We want you to get the most of out of your candle so here are some helpful tips for making it last and burn at it's maximum clean capability.

#1 THE MOST IMPORTANT TIP
Trim your wick between burns

It is very important to trim your wick between every burn down to 1/4-1/3 inch. This is best done when the candle is cooled and wax has rehardened. This will allow a clean burn (minimalizing soot) and maintain a proper flame sized. This will also prevent the jar's exterior from getting too hot.
Check out our Candle Care Set specially designed to trim the wick and catch the excess trimming. Just follow the link to view our shop's available options.

If you are noticing black soot on the sides of your jar, the candle may be burning too long or the wick has not properly been maintained. When the candle is cool, you can take a paper towel with a little alcohol on it, or a warm damp cloth, and wipe out the black soot to clean out the inner rim of your jar. Be sure to trim the wick before you burn each and every time. We recommend to always follow the candle burning instructions on the bottom of each candle vessel.

All candles require supervision.

  • Do not burn your candle longer than 3-4 hours at a time.
  • Always burn on a heat resistant surface and within eye sight.
  • Keep away from flammable objects, pets, and children.
  • Take caution when you light the candle and also as you blow it out.
  • Please do not burn down to the bottom of jar (the candle has had a good run and should be retired at about 1/2" wax left in the bottom). Your vessel may overheat (causing breakage, and burning of the surface it sets on).

We advise wisdom, and safety will follow. Leaving your candle to burn longer than the recommended burn times could cause your vessel to overheat and break. Please follow the candle burning instructions as given here. It's also on the bottom of every one of our candle vessels.
